Roo Plaza at the University of Missouri–Kansas City transforms a central part of the campus into a pedestrian-only space. Instead of traffic, the focus is on student use—as a place for meeting, informal study and short stays throughout the day.

The redesign strengthens the campus core as a social and functional hub, clearly prioritising pedestrians. Seating areas, pathways and open spaces are arranged to support different uses and allow flexible occupation throughout the day.Within this setting, elements from Vestre’s collections KINN, STRIPES and STOOP are used. They help structure the space and reflect the university’s identity through blue and gold tones, complemented by additional accent colours.Roo Plaza demonstrates how the reallocation of traffic areas can activate central campus spaces and support a wide range of everyday uses.
