GLADE pergola
GLADE provides protection from the sun while bringing large, open environments down to a more human scale. The roof slats filter the sun and cast a pattern of light and shadow that moves across the ground throughout the day, while carefully shaped aluminium surfaces catch and reflect light differently as the sun moves.

THE DETAILS THAT MATTER

Shaping space with shade
GLADE responds to two needs at once: creating shade and giving definition to large, open environments. Rather than creating an enclosed room, its structure provides an open frame that people can move freely through while still experiencing a clear sense of place. It brings public space down to a more human scale and creates a framework for different furniture arrangements and social settings.
Engineered for simplicity
Behind GLADE’s simple expression is a highly engineered aluminium system developed in close collaboration with Hydro. Rather than relying on standard profiles, Vestre developed custom extrusions that integrate structural strength, connection points and assembly logic directly into the design.

Industrial sustainability
GLADE was developed by considering its entire lifecycle from the beginning. Production, packing, transportation, assembly, repair and eventual material circulation informed both its construction and material choices. Custom extruded profiles use Hydro CIRCAL75 recycled aluminium, while the cast components are made from 100% recycled aluminium. Sustainability is therefore built into the industrial logic of GLADE rather than added to the finished product.

Behind the design
Outdoor furniture, to me, represents a meeting point between people, nature and architecture. As a designer, I let this relationship inspire the form, materials and quality of the products. With GLADE, the ambition was to create shade while strengthening the identity of a place.
