Roo Plaza at the University of Missouri–Kansas City transforms a central campus area into a pedestrian-only destination. Instead of accommodating traffic, the space focuses on student use—as a place to gather, study, and recharge throughout the day.

The redesign reinforces the campus core as a social and functional hub, prioritizing pedestrians. Seating areas, pathways, and open spaces are designed to support multiple uses and allow flexible use throughout the day. Within this setting, elements from Vestre’s collections KINN, STRIPES, and STOOP are integrated. They help structure the space and reflect the university’s identity through blue and gold tones, complemented by vibrant accent colors. Roo Plaza illustrates how converting traffic space can create active, multi-functional campus environments.
